Our client is a leading niche engineering support services group operating in the nuclear, oil and gas, chemical food and defence sectors. The Group supports its blue chip client base using an integrated offering of design, manufacture, installation, maintenance and decommissioning
The group employs just under 2,000 people across eight businesses in the UK and Northern Ireland.
The nuclear engineering and decommissioning division provide complete turn-key project solutions including in-house engineering design, engineering and manufacture, project and site management, installation, commissioning and plant operations.
They are currently recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer to be based in Gateshead.
The role is to Lead the Discipline of Electrical Engineering and assess the electrical requirements of capital plant projects and to develop solutions which comply with both Client and British/European standards and are fit for purpose
Key Accountabilities
Electrical Designs
Leader and Mentor of Discipline.
Contributing to a multi-disciplined team and managing customer relationships
Assume responsibility for planning and managing delivery of Electrical design and engineering aspects through
to commissioning and project handover
Designing electrical systems and installations (Low / Medium voltage power and lighting systems) HV desirable but not essential.
Experience with Amtech software package
Experience with Lighting calculation package
Experience with RIBA stages.
Design specification and verification of drawings and documentation
Design and installation of Electrical systems
Management of Electrical aspects of sub-contractors
Use of electrical equipment in hazardous areas
Liaise with customers (internal & external) and suppliers where necessary (where impacting/affected by quality issues).
Candidate Requirements:
Degree/HND qualified in Electrical Engineering
Proven track record in Electrical project engineering experience
Demonstrable programme management experience
Member of appropriate professional body
Chartered Engineer status and membership of appropriate professional body is desirable
Experience of managing projects under CDM regulations
IT literate - Word, Excel, Project,
Good communicator at all levels
Able to work within, and support a , multi-disciplined team
Willingness to travel occasionally
Experience of working with British Energy / EDF Energy supporting nuclear power stations in the UK would be an advantage.
