Our client is a mayor global energy, planning and environmental consultancy, currently looking to recruit a Senior Ecologist to join their expanding team in Ireland.

They are looking for an experienced senior terrestrial ecologist with strong ornithological skills to join them. You will have five or more years of experience working in the environmental assessment field and should have previous experience of oral hearing participation.

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:
-Experience of project management and tendering
-Knowledge of the application and consent process for infrastructure projects
-Knowledge of legislation and policy in relation to ecological conservation with particular reference to birds and designated sites for birds
-Technical writing skills, with experience of writing EIAs and NIS
-A thorough understanding of terrestrial and bird ecology
-Practical understanding of relevant literature and guidance on birds and energy projects including windfarm and electricity transmission lines
-Previous experience of conducting ornithological studies and surveys, particularly in relation to hen harriers
-Statistical analysis skills, with a knowledge and ability to interpret and present data appropriately
-Previous experience of the oral hearing process; and
-Experience across a range of sectors, such as transport, energy, and marine developments

You must also be a good team player, have exceptional communication skills, be self motivated and self disciplined and have good attention to detail. Experience in GIS is desirable, and a full driving licence is essential.

You will be qualified to BSc or equivalent degree, and a MSc or PhD would be advantageous, as would IEEM or IEMA memberships.

Our client is one of the world's leading engineering and environmental consultants. Due to expansion, they are currently looking to recruit a Senior Ecologist to join their team in London.

The successful candidate will have a solid career history working as an ecological consultant, with demonstrable experience of providing ecological inputs to major infrastructure projects subject to EIA.

The position will involve the following duties:
-Writing and reviewing Environmental Statement chapters in support of major infrastructure projects
-Acting as a species specialist in one or more of the following areas: bats, birds, botany, great crested newts or other species
-Liaising with internal project managers and clients to identify ecological requirements of new projects
-Providing ecological review of ecological reports and other deliverables as required
-Managing and mentoring of junior staff
-Organising and carrying out desk and field based ecological habitat and species surveys

The ideal candidate will have:
-A degree in a biological science or related discipline
-Full Member of the IEEM
-Solid background in terrestrial ecology consultancy experience
-Experience of contributing to EIAs for major infrastructure schemes
-Detail knowledge of UK wildlife legislation, planning policy and EIA
-A flexible approach to working, including unsociable hours and working away from home
-Experience of undertaking Phase 1 habitat and protected species surveys
-Experience of holding and implementing European Protected Species Licences
-Full UK driving licence

A higher degree in biological science or related discipline, project management experience, botanical identification skills and chartered status would be advantageous.
