Systems Engineers :
Due to a substantial increase in workload a World Class Defence Organisation based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire is currently looking to recruit 8 Systems Engineers who could come from a variety of different backgrounds; Systems Design Engineers / Systems Architects / Integration & Validation Engineers etc.
Please Note: you must be eligible for SC (Secret Level) Security Clearance.
The contract is initially for 6 months (ongoing and long-term thereafter).
Department offering hourly rates of £30 - £36 per hour.
Systems Engineer Description:
Systems Engineers with strong knowledge of several of the following System Design related tools and experience are of interest:
: Electronics Integration and Proving skills
: DOORS
: SysML
: UML
: MATLAB
: Simulink
: Rhapsody
: Aristisan
: Excel
: Requirements flow down and analysis
: Interface Documentation
Academic Qualification:
Ideal - BSc/MSc/MEng in systems engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent.
Experience Requirements:
Candidates from the defence, aerospace industry are ideal however other industries will be considered so long as you posses the necessary Systems Engineering skills and experience.
An ideal area of your previous work could come from the following domains;
Missile/Weapon Systems
Systems Combat
Command & Control Systems
In addition the successful candidate will…………
• have the ability to visualize and analyse complex systems
• have good analysis skills
• have good verbal, presentation and written communication skills
• have practical knowledge of basic systems engineering principles and processes.
• be able to work with engineering teams, including in-house and contractor personnel
• be pro-active and be capable of working on their own initiative with a minimum of supervision
• have good working experience in more than one phase of the engineering life cycle, with sufficient experience of the total life cycle to ensure a good understanding of adjacent phases and through-life engineering issues

You will design and develop signal processing software for test and measurement applications covering all stages of product lifecycle through to delivery, working on technical challenging world leading wireless standards (LTE-A through to WLAN – 802.11 AC/AD).
The Signal processing development (using C coding language) applies to the Physical layer development for the latest evolving 3GPP Wireless standards coupled with integration into a world class technical team makes this the ideal environment for solving technical challenges while creating room for innovation. Autonomy and a high level of technical ownership are part of the role
The Digital Signal Processing group works closely with their in-house VHDL and Algorithms groups.
Purpose of Role
Development of signal processing algorithms that are a key component of our clients Wireless Test and Measurement equipment that are used to analyse the latest wireless standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Design, development and implementation of signal processing algorithms to analyse the latest wireless RF technologies, such as LTE and 802.11ac
2. Ensure that measurements adhere to published wireless standards
3. Mentoring more junior team members
Requirement
1. Degree or equivalent in an electronic engineering, telecommunications, digital processing or similar discipline
2. Strong mathematical capability with an in-depth understanding of DSP techniques
3. Excellent C skills with a working knowledge of Matlab
4. Excellent problem solving ability
5. Must be adaptable and thrive on the dynamic technology changes occurring in the wireless environment
6. Ability to produce high quality technical documents
Desirable Skills
1. Digital signal processing experience gained in mobile or base station design
2. Experience with the interpretation of wireless specifications
3. Knowledge of RF test and measurement techniques
4. Experience in C++ and object oriented software development
