Position: Junior Search Developer

Salary: £25-35K depending on experience
Our client is a young and exciting company focusing on Search based applications. Following recent investment and growth, they are now looking to expand their team to further develop their existing product set, and work on new innovative solutions.
This vacancy is for a junior analyst programmer to maintain, develop and enhance applications as part of our client’s external product development.
This role requires a level of technical experience and interpersonal skills to be able to work effectively with product managers, development and architecture staff, along with and third party developers as required.
Technical skills and experience
Primary
• Strong object orientated programming skills (C++, C#, Java) – work going forward will be primarily with C# .Net (.Net 4.0) and Java.
• Ability to understand and write technical documentation.
• Experience of both Windows and *NIX based operating systems.
• Ability to learn fast.
• Exposure to SOLR (1+ years)
• Exposure to content management and more preferably search applications.
Secondary
• Experience of XML and XSLT.
• An understanding of Enterprise Search.
• Experience of test driven design and Test harness usage.
• Experience of SQL and MS SQL Server.
• Familiarity with source code control systems (e.g. TFS).
• Good academic background - degree in computer science or technical discipline or equivalent learning and experience.
Interpersonal skills and experience
• Drive and ability to learn new technical skills, with evidence of past learning.
• Team player, able to work effectively with others.
• Able to work alone and use own initiative, engaging with others when needed.
• Ability to approach problems logically. Thinks beyond the most immediate solution to consider alternatives.
