Job Title: Brake Component Engineer

Position Description
Sub-system owner for Brake Components on a major forward model program
Design and Release of brake components
Manage cost and timing for brake components
Lead Failure Mode Avoidance for the brake components
Coordinate testing and reporting for brake components
Ensure readiness of appointed suppliers to launch the brake components
Skills Required
Understanding of automotive design, release and verification
Understanding of product development process (GPDS)
Understanding of failure mode avoidance techniques
Awareness of automotive brake system components and their functions
Awareness of customer requirements on a brake system
Persistent in driving issue resolution at suppliers and interfacing functions
Able to plan ahead
Adaptable in overcoming practical issues to complete test plan
Articulate in report writing
Willing to travel regularly
Experience Required

Component design and release experience
Experience with engineering support systems (WERS / AVBOM / Teamcentre / DOC etc.)
Experience of automotive product development cycle (ideally GPDS)
Education Required
BEng (hons) in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering

Expanding Electronics Company now needs a Software Engineer Essex


Software Engineer
My Client is an internationally known manufacturer of single board computer products, for the VPX, VME, CompactPCI, AMC and other bus architectures. Our products are designed and developed totally in-house, and use leading-edge microprocessors and peripheral components.

We sell into many different markets around the world, but in particular we have a number of high-performance processor and other boards used in aerospace, defence and telecommunications applications, among others. Further products provide solutions for a variety of other data processing and industrial I/O requirements.

Continuing expansion of our product range means that the company requires an additional Software Engineer.


The Job:
Our engineers are involved in many different activities, and in particular the following:-
· Developing and maintaining our PC BIOS and diagnostics firmware
· Design and development of system and device driver software for many standard operating systems
· Porting and testing of the operating systems on new hardware platforms
· Working with our hardware designers during design to specify the product, and again particularly during the prototyping stage to get the product working This often involves the development of new special-purpose test software
· Backing up our technical support engineers when problems arise in the field or in our in-house production test area
Working in a small company environment, projects are usually small and of short duration, and in most cases the bulk of the work is done by one individual. The hardware and software platforms vary, but most of the devices used are complex and a good appreciation of the hardware is a pre-requisite for this role.


Qualifications:
Engineering graduate, with very good experience in at least the first three of the areas below.
· C or C++ programming, primarily for the Intel processor family
· Windows, Linux, VxWorks or QNX device drivers or system (kernel level) software
· Embedded real-time software development
· Programming hardware devices at register level
· Diagnostics, bootloader or PC BIOS development
· Familiarity with VPX, VME, CompactPCI or MicroTCA/ATCA Systems
The ability to communicate effectively with others within the company at an engineering level is an important additional attribute.
