Working for an innovative Software design house Software Engineers will have practical, professional experience of real-time embedded systems; (microcontrollers; processors or DSP) is essential. A practical knowledge and understanding of electronic hardware principles would be an advantage, as would familiarity with Linux, Network or IP programming.
Software Engineers will have a degree in Computer Science and/or electronics related subject
• Good knowledge of the C programming language
• 2+ years in an embedded systems environment
• Familiarity with the use of modern SW development practices – version control, unit testing etc.
• Experience with Hardware-based debugging facilities – JTAG etc.
• Knowledge and use of serial communication standards and protocols
• Flexible attitude; able to deliver quality work with minimal supervision

Desirable
• Experience with ARM7 processors, preferably under Keil µVision IDE
• Experience with H8/H8S microprocessor family

Based in the South of England , this is a position for a Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) Design Engineer to work with an industry leader in high voltage power supplies for a range of applications.

You will be working in a small team of engineers from varying backgrounds including SMPS, power electronics, mechanical, software, PCB etc and be responsible for R&D, design and development, preparing technical documentation, adhering to ISO standards/procedures, EMC safety regulations and being the technical go-to person in the team.

Essential Skills:
- Proven Hardware design skills in power supplies from bespoke customer requirements
- Stong analogue design skills
- Understanding of vaious SMPS technologies
- Hardware integration with embedded electronics
- Strong communicator
- Ability to combine technican focus with commercial awareness and;
- Used to working to milestones within a multi disciplined team

Desired Skills:
- High Voltage Power Supplies (HV SMPS) typically from 1kV upto 300kV

My client in central Hastings is recruiting for an experienced IT Engineer, to start ASAP on a fixed-term contract for 3 months, as secondment cover.

Accountabilities:

2 - Work as part of a flexible team in maintaining networks, and associated hardware and software, throughout the organisation, to a high standard of efficiency to ensure minimum amount of ‘down’ time.
3 - Provide 1st & 2nd line technical support via phone, email and face to face.
4 - Logging and completion of job tickets through the organisation's call management system in accordance to agreed service level agreements.
5 - Work with all Engineers to install and implement all network systems, equipment and software including any necessary cabling.
6 - Ensure all networks, including associated hardware and software, are properly and fully documented to ensure continuity of service following breakdown and enable system maintenance and upgrade to take place without significant disruption.
7 - Maintain a database of all PC and MAC systems failures and solutions to assist in the detection and resolution of problems.
8 - Work with the Network Engineer in the detection and solving of problems to enable speedy resolution of any network failure.
9 - Assist the IT Services Manager in the identification on new technologies to inform strategic decisions.
10 - Assist the IT Services Manager and the Procurement Officer to ensure best value when procuring new equipment, supplies and maintenance.
11 - Update the Asset Management System on a regular basis to ensure the effective planning of asset life cycles.
12 - Work with the Network Engineer to gain sufficient knowledge of all systems in order to provide adequate cover to maintain network service during staff absences.
13 - Work with the Network Engineer to ensure the telephony service is available, and setting up phone accounts.
