Team Description & Purpose of Role The Product and Solutions team in Our Client are responsible for driving the product strategy, managing the Profit and Loss for the product line (including setting pricing) and helping sales to close business. Products and Solutions provide the Release to Market mechanism for all new product features and are the internal and external personification of the product itself.

PURPOSE OF ROLE: Our client requires a Senior Digital Network Architect.

Good technical understanding of fundamental principles of digital technology and communications theory and its practical applications; in particular with regard to system security. Experience of firmware development (e.g. VHDL) and communication protocols is desirable. Experience should include:

* Digital technology technical lead
* Communications systems experience
* Person Specification - Multi-skilled – must have worked in technical roles and be equally adept at multiple skills including IPVPN, WAN optimization and IPS.

• Self-motivated, self-starter, self-assured (but can take direction when required)

Job Responsibilities



• Full ownership of the Customer’s network architecture;

• Maintenance of ‘living’ network architecture documentation;

• First point of contact between the Customer’s technical teams and Our Client product/platform/operations organisation;

• In situations where the Customer’s network suffers an outage, analysis of any issues raised by Our Client operations teams or Our Client CSM to understand if changes can be made to the Customer’s network architecture to avoid the issue recurring;

• Planning for network changes and upgrades including design, scheduling within Our Client and the Customer, timely communication between both Parties;

• Pro-active network analysis including recommendations for improving the service performance and optimization of the network architecture;

• Periodic review of security log data with a view to maintaining process compliance;

• Preparation of monthly advanced network and application performance reports based upon the WAN Optimisation Service provided to the Customer, to a specification agreed by the Customer;

• Organise periodic technical and architectural review meetings between the Customer and Our Client;

• Coordinate the deployment of soft changes (as specified in the relevant Schedule 2) for the Customer within Our Client.



Experience Required • Strong MPLS/IP design experience in System Integrator/network provider and/or large enterprise environment.

• Experience of Network Operations

• A demonstrable understanding of all/some of the following: -

• MPLS VPNs, QoS, Ethernet (VPLS), IT Applications in WAN environments, Routing/Switching technologies, WAN optimization technologies

• Security - Firewalls, VPN concentrators, IPsec & SSL VPN, IDS/IPS, DDOS protection, Email & Content filtering

• Knowledge of VoIP/IPT an advantage

• Knowledge of Hosting/CDN services an advantage

• Knowledge of Video-conferencing / Telepresence/ webcasting an advantage

• Knowledge of overall telecoms infrastructure such as Dark Fibre, CoLo, Metro, Local Access and managed services such as DWDM, SDH, OPN would be an advantage.

• Familiarity with broadband carrier services an advantage (e.g. xDSL).

• QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

BSc Computing/Electronics/Maths/Physics or equivalent qualification in Data & Telecommunications and/or significant on the job knowledge and subsequent
