Our client based in Eastleigh, Southampton who are a leading software author and developer of document management and workflow solutions are looking to directly recruit a Software Performance Tester. The successful candidate will be required to use a wide range of testing approaches and techniques, and help ensure that the quality and expected functionality of the company software is achieved in line with agreed targets.
This role is central to the organisations long term strategy, which aims to push a high-quality software product into new markets in the UK and abroad.
Responsibilities and duties:
*Planning of software performance testing projects including volume, load, performance and stress testing.
*Executing software performance testing projects including building appropriate test environments, including database setup configuration of software, data loading and scripting of performance tests.
*Documenting and tracking defects through to satisfactory completion.
*Research and propose new ways in which required software products can be performance and functionally tested and improved in quality.
*Help maintain and update all internal testing systems relating to role.
*Contribute to the continuous improvement process
*Undertake planning and execution of manual software testing projects.
*Undertake general automated software testing including scripting of new automated tests.
Essential and desirable criteria
Candidates will progress to the "second filter" stage if they demonstrate compliance with the following essential criteria
Essential
*Significant experience of planning, preparing and executing software performance testing projects including database performance.
*Significant experience of scripted / automated and manual software performance testing gained within a development house or related environment.
*Significant experience of general software testing in a Microsoft Client / Server environment including web-based applications.
*Strong MS SQL Server 2000 / 2005 and SQL language skills and SQL query performance analysis.
*Sound Oracle 10g Database experience and query performance analysis.
*Strong MS IIS Web-Server 5.0 to 7.0 experience
*Practical experience of scripting automated software tests.
Desirable
*ISEB / ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing or equivalent.
*Experience of working together with a development team and general understanding of the agile software development methodology would be an advantage.
*Experience of Microsoft Foundation Team System would be desirable.
*Significant experience of Microsoft Client / Server Technology
*Strong MS Server 2003 experience.

In return our client are offering a base salary of circa. £25,000 - £30,000 + excellent benefits & fantastic working environment!
