Project Manager- UK & Ireland Specialist, Crawley


At A Glance
The Project Manager oversees all aspects of projects using planning, monitoring and controlling processes, working within the Flexi, Short Breaks & Flight Warehouse business. They are responsible for the full project life cycle i.e. setting project deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring and summarising progress of the project and escalating issues to resolution.

To give greater delivery focus to the agreed range of projects to be delivered as defined by the business. The Project Manager runs the project on a day-to-day basis and may run more than one project at a time.

What You'll Be Doing

Delivering viable projects to deadlines and budget.

Planning and problem-solving tasks

  • Responsible for planning the project in order to accomplish its goals within constraints such as time, cost and agreed quality standards.
  • Responsible for owning and maintaining the project budget.
  • Monitor progress against plan/budget and report back to the board/senior management.
  • Anticipate and catch deviations from a plan via agreed reporting mechanisms and keep all participants/stakeholders informed.
  • Identify and manage issues and risks, taking corrective action by tackling day-to-day issues head on and reviewing how more serious issues and risks might impact the project.
    Communicating tasks

  • The Project Manager should be able to articulate and negotiate consensus on a final vision of the product and/or the core project goals from scoping the requirements of all stakeholders, not forgetting the end-user.
  • Facilitate agreement of acceptance criteria.
  • Must be courteous and polite in written and oral communication.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels and present at Board meetings.
    Team management tasks

  • The Project Manager will identify the need for resource, and should subsequently take on team management responsibilities in relation to the resource available to the project.
  • Work directly with the team members (if applicable), team leaders or external suppliers, planning activities and negotiating consensus on their appointed tasks.
  • Create and maintain Gantt charts (Microsoft Project) to track project.
  • Provide team with direction and vision.
  • Close project and carry out Post Project Review if required.
    Technical and quality tasks

  • Without necessarily being an expert, the Project Manager should make an effort to understand the technologies used and question as required when evaluating solutions/issues.
  • Responsible for the project's commitment to quality; managing using relevant methodologies and standards.
    Organising tasks

  • Create a structure for project documentation and generate relevant documents e.g. requirement specifications, project reports, design specifications, meeting agendas, minutes and status reports storing them within the structure.

    What We're Looking For

  • Demonstratable Project Management experience.
  • Good communicator and able to work and adapt in a fast-moving industry.
  • Broad understanding of technologies, systems and Architecture.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of a recognised project management methodology (e.g. PRINCE 2).
  • Demonstrable understanding of programme management and willingness to develop into such a role.
